Most can't even the detect the drive, and the ones that can are not able to find most of the files that I actually want back. I've since tried using various other recovery software, but to no success.

Now it won't even show up in the software, so I can't scan it again. It only slightly tugged on the connecter for the hard drive, but apparently that was enough to yield an error in the program and stop the scanning.

But during this process (and here's where the "badly" part comes from), it was unplugged again! Yes, I was dumb enough to try to move the laptop to straighten out some cords that I felt were in the way. I started scanning my drive with it to identify my files in hopes of recovering them. I downloaded the free version and it managed to find my drive. I looked up data recovery software and found DMDE Data Recovery. I checked File Explorer, Disk Manager, and Device Manager. Now it won't show up anywhere on any PC I plug it in to. While I was transferring files from by external hard drive to my laptop, I accidentally bumped into the hard drive and unplugged it. To clarify, it is not physically damaged, only digitally.
